About Program

Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) is a three year undergraduate multi-dimensional and a highly dynamic course. It aims to mold the complete personality of a student to suit the needs and requirements of a demanding industry.

BJ(MC) is a right career choice for the aspirants who have always been curious and inquisitive about the issues and events happening around the world. They should have a good flair for writing and reporting the events to the vast audience through the mass media mediums. Such candidates ideally possess the ability to write well including editing and web writing along with good communication and analytical skills.

The course work is punctuated with periodic industry visits, live recording sessions, opportunities for shooting movies, news anchoring and presentation. The Institute takes pride in its state–of–the–art infrastructure that is unique and unparalleled.

Eligibility

ELIGIBILITY

Student applying for the course should have cleared the 12th class board examinations with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and should have passed in English (Core, Elective or Functional) as a subject.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admissions through CET
The admissions are carried out strictly on merit basis through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University(GGSIPU), Dwarka. A candidate should satisfy the above mentioned eligibility criteria and qualify CET-GGSIPU to attend the counselling for further admission process in the institute.

Admissions through Management Quota
The Institute also conducts admission for 10% seats under management quota which is done on the basis of merit of qualifying examination and CET-GGSIPU Rank. A candidate should have a minimum 50% marks in aggregate and must have passed English (core/elective/functional) as a subject and obtained a CET-GGSIPU rank.

Syllabus

Syllabus – Semester Examination

The BJMC programme is divided into six semesters. Each semester comprises of practical and theoretical subjects, so the student is familiar with both the aspect of the course.

Each academic session of the course is divided into two semesters (August-December & January-May). In each semester examination and evaluation is carried out according to the scheme laid down by the University. Every paper is of 100 marks.

Course Highlights

1. Affiliation

The BJMC programme is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. GGSIPU is first university established in 1998 by Govt. of NCT of Delhi under provision of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998 . GGSIPU is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), India under section 12B of UGC Act and NAAC ‘A’ grade university.

2. Teaching Pedagogy

The institute applies a balanced blend of classroom curriculum and practical approach. In extension to the traditional classroom teaching, number of other methods like web based learning, case studies, role playing, quizzes, seminars and presentation are used for effective learning.

Apart from arranging placements for the students the placement cell maintains regular interaction with the industry, organizing visits and guest lectures, workshops and seminars to broaden the exposure of students and help in making them understand the balance between theoretical inputs and corporate practices.

Scholarships

Scholarship based on class XIIth score
90% and above in Class 12TH : 50% of the first year fee
85% to 89% in Class 12TH : 25% of the first year fee
80% to 84% in Class 12TH : 15% of the first year fee

NOTE : Relaxation of 5% to girl students on above mentioned percentage criteria.

Sports Scholarship
Zonal Level Player : 5% of fee each year
State Level Player : 10% of fee each year
National Level Player : 15% of fee each year

Defence Scholarship
Children of defence personnel’s are offered scholarship to the extent of 10% of tuition fee each year. The student has to produce I-card of his parent at the time of admission as a proof of service. The scholarship is also offered to wards of Ex-servicemen.

Bank Loan
Students are eligible to avail study loan from any of the Nationalized Banks.
